The Pharaohs continue to follow the mission and example of our late Founder Keith "The Pharaoh" Preskey. Through our Wednesday night Endless Summer Cruise-In's in historic downtown Gresham, and hosting of the Milwauke Cruise-In, we were able to donate over $15,000 to our selected charities. In 2015 we donated over $8000 to the Missing in America Project, well on our way to our goal of $10,000 annually. We also continued our partnership with the Veteran's support hotline through Lines for Life, donating $2500 to that organization. We also support the East Hill Church Youth Group, the pedal car auction and Children's Cancer Association Wagon event at the Portland Roadster Show, and the Angels on Wheels Toy Run for Randall Children's Hospital. We are also very proud to continue to award the two $500 cash awards at the High School Challenge at the Portland Roadster Show. This was important to Keith, and we have vowed to continue them as the Keith "The Pharaoh" Preskey Memorial High School Challenge Awards.
We were fortunate to have had someone like Keith in our lives, and we will do our best to keep his memory alive.
The Pharaohs Street Rodders are a non-profit car club that promotes and attends Cruise Ins and Car Shows throughout the Portland/Vancouver Metro area. A portion of the proceeds from our hosted events, go to our numerous charitable missions.
Our primary mission is the MIAP (Missing in America Project) http://www.miap.us. The MIAP identifies and inters the unclaimed cremated remains of American veterans back as far as WWI, through the joint efforts of private, state and federal organizations. They provide honor and respect to those who have served this country by securing a final resting place for these forgotten heroes. This task will be possible throughout the upcoming events and many hours of labor by club members and volunteers, and the coordinated efforts of that MIAP, Oregon National Guard, American Legion, veteran’s organizations who will escort these remains to WillametteCemetery for proper military burial.
We also support Lines for Life, which offers a hotline for Veteran's and their family members that may be dealing with substand abuse issues, or possible suicide. Other missions we have supported in the past are the Breast Cancer foundation http://www.nationalbreastcancer.org , the prostate Cancer foundation http://www.prostatecancerfoundation.org/. As we grow in numbers and stature we hope to be adding others.
Our club name, Pharaohs comes from the movie American Graffiti. A movie that celebrates cars and a simpler time.
